Gematria Calculator: A Tool for Understanding the Mystical Meanings Behind Words

What is Gematria?

Gematria is a mystical practice that deals with finding hidden meanings behind words and numbers. It is based on a system where each letter in the Hebrew alphabet also has a corresponding numerical value. By assigning numerical values to words, Gematria seeks to uncover hidden connections between seemingly unrelated concepts.

How Does Gematria Work?

The basic principle behind Gematria is that each Hebrew letter has a corresponding numerical value. For example, the first letter of the alphabet (Aleph) equals one, while the tenth letter (Yod) equals ten, and so on. To determine the numerical value of a word in Hebrew, you simply add up the values of its constituent letters.

For example, יהוה (YHVH), which is one of the names used for God in Judaism, has a gematric value of 26 – just like אהבה (Ahava), which means "love" in Hebrew.

The Different Types of Gematria

There are several different methods used for calculating gematric values:

Ordinal Gematria

In ordinal gematria, each letter is assigned its position within the alphabet. So Aleph = 1; Bet = 2; Gimel = 3; and so on.

Reduced Gematria

In reduced gematria, you reduce larger numbers by adding their digits together until you get to a single-digit number. So if a word's gematric value was 999 – like שטן (Satan) – you would add 9+9+9, which equals 27. Then you would add 2+7, which equals 9. Therefore שטן (Satan) has a reduced gematric value of 9.

Temurah Gematria

Temurah gematria involves rearranging the letters within a word to reveal its hidden meaning. This involves creating anagrams or switching letters around according to certain rules.

The Importance of Gematria

Gematria is often used in Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah as a tool for understanding the deeper meanings behind religious texts and spiritual concepts.

Some people believe that Gematria can unlock secret codes within the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible), revealing hidden prophecies and divine mysteries.

Gematria Today

In modern times, some people still use gematria for divinatory purposes or to gain insight into personal issues or spiritual questions. gematria calculators are widely available online and can be used to generate numerical values for English words as well as Hebrew ones.

Cautions About Using Gematria

It's important to note that while many people find gematria fascinating and potentially enlightening, it should not be relied upon as a substitute for common sense or critical thinking. Also, misuse of this powerful practice may have dangerous consequences in instigating hatred using numerology associating hateful materials with religion-based text such the Quran or religious figures including Prophet Mohammed [PBUH] resulting Islamophobic behavior attacks over Muslims globally .

As always one has to see relevance according his/her faith believes with respect towards other religions too which may have contradicting views depending upon exposure & atmosphere.
